Cairn Product Manager
Matt helps develop and spec Cairn bikes
Most of Matt's biketime these days is done product testing or commuting but he started out on a jump bike after leaving school and dabbled in a bit of 4-Cross and DH racing too. A brief stint in Toys R Us got him interested in bike mechanics and after spending more time in the local bike shop than he did at his own job as a fishmonger, the manager there offered him a job. Matt spent 7 years working as a mechanic and workshop manager before moving to Evans Cycles' head office. That's around the time he got serious about what he wanted to do and that was design bikes.
He elevated Evans' own brands Pinnacle and Hoy Bikes and became product manager alongside the renowned Genesis designer James Olsen. Matt realised his first range of bikes for Pinnacle and Hoy in 2018 before being sucked in to the fascinating world of e-bikes. At Cairn, he will be making sure our bikes are not just "another e-bike" but getting both cyclists and non-cyclists excited about electric bikes and how we can change the way people use bicycles day to day.
