Always wanting to improve the Cairn team took the award winning E-Adventure back to the drawing board to see how it could be improved further.

Bigger changes come in the form of the gravel specific GRX groupset from Shimano, braking from the hoods has never been so comfortable as well as confidence inspiring.

Increasing stand over on the frames has done a huge amount for off-road control and manoeuvrability, it also has opened up our bikes to smaller riders.

E-Adventure 1.0 700c 2021

The 700c version comes equipped with the fast and lightweight Hunt X Cairn E-Gravel Disc wheels coupled with Vittoria’s awesome Terreno Dry tyre in 700x38c. The perfect combo for fast paced road and trail exploring. Ritchey components supply the cockpit with a carbon seat post to increase the comfort on rougher trails or to take away road buzz, it’s all finished off with Fabric’s bar tape and saddle. Equipped with mounts for both mudguards and racks, it makes it’s the bike that can do it all.

The frame and fork also has any 3 anything mounts, this opens up huge cargo storage solutions including the Cairn Range Extension pack, coupled with another Fazua battery (only 1.3kg) this gives you even further range to explore more.

Cairn have teamed up again with HUNT to bring a specific wheel fit for the rigours that this bike was designed for.

The HUNT X Cairn E-Gravel Disc wheels have been developed specifically for the Cairn E-Adventure and feature the same steel axle and increased pawl contact area for a longer lasting hub. Slightly wider rim than that on the V1 bike gives better tyre profile and allows lower pressures so increases grip and comfort.

The drive system has a two-sided torque measurement: meaning the more power you bring to the crank, the more support you get back. With an average range of 75 km (46 miles) with the battery at the medium level of support, you can reach up to 144 km (90 miles) on Breeze mode.

New for this version is the re-positioning of the remote, allowing more for more control and ease of use whilst on the move.

Vittoria have the know how, they are one of the largest bicycle tyre manufactures in the world and the design and development that gores into the tyres is astonishing. The Terreno Dry tyres used on this bike feature 3 compounds and Graphene to deliver ultimate performance in a straight line and corners alike.

Finishing kit in today’s market is an overlooked part of most bikes. Unless its performance is noticeably better, or it has a very specific function to play most don’t notice the difference.

Enter Tom Ritchey, from his pioneering days on the very first mountain bike trails to today, Tom does not settle for the norm. Everything Ritchey does has a unique feel and finish that sets it apart and nothing gets produced without approval from the man himself. The Ritchey Butano bar with its 118mm drop, 12 degree flare and 73mm reach will look pretty standard to most, Ritchey however adds a 4 degree back sweep and a much wider taper for extra comfort and compatibility with accessories and handlebar bags. The lightest and most compact drive system in the industry!

For the E-Adventure 700c 2021 we chose to partner with the amazing team at Fazua with their equally amazing Evation drive system. Its lightweight, integrated and natural pedal feel was exactly what we were looking for to complement our bikes. At only 4.6kg for the full system its helps to create a really lightweight ebike, furthermore the system has no mechanical resistance if not in use, so if the worst happens and you run out of battery it wont feel like riding a heavy bike through treacle like some other system. The battery its self though is just over 1kg and with the Cairn keg and cage you can easily carry another battery to further your exploration.

Cairn have also used the awesome new Black Pepper update (see below for more info) to create a Cairn E-Adventure tune, we believe these 3 modes best suit the terrain that you will encounter and will get the most from your bike and ride, its easy to switch back to the standard Fazua tune with a click of a button on the app.

You can now also connect your 3^rd party computers to the Evation drive, giving you loads more info, notably dual side power output of you the rider as well as the system – who doesn’t like seeing your watts.

Fazua have updated the software of the Evation drive and labelled these changes as Black Pepper, so what do these changes bring to you?

Performance

The Evation drive system’s motor control was completely overhauled from the ground up. The result is a marked improvement in efficiency, making it possible to get even more performance from the compact unit.

Cadence range

One of the most clearly noticeable performance enhancements is the delivery of power over a broad cadence range. The Evation drive system now provides more efficient assistance at a constant motor output over a cadence range of 50–120 revolutions per minute.

Riding feel

From its inception, the Evation drive system has delivered a ride characterized by gentle, natural assistance. But now, riders can enjoy an even more authentic feel: In extensive biomechanical analyses, we used complex algorithms and methods to develop riding dynamics that perfectly adapt to the rider’s individual pedalling style—to guarantee the ideal level of assistance in every riding scenario.

Gravel is such a broad term, and we realise this, one riders gravel ride is another’s mountain bike ride. This is why we came to conclusion we needed two version to give the choice to the rider; we have the fast paced 700c perfect for tarmac commutes with the ability to fly up the tow paths or farm trails for an adventure. If you like your gravel to be more chunky or thee destination for your ride is a MTB trail then the 650b version has you covered with big volume tyres supplying grip as well as comfort and the dropper post gives you the room to move when things point down.

Vittoria Mezcal 2.25" Front 2.1" Rear

The Vittoria Mezzcal 2.25” front and 2.1” rear tyres, the mix in sizing is something that the MTB fraternity have been doing for years and makes total sense, better grip, more comfort and control on the front and faster rolling on the rear.

Lightweight carbon seat post to keeping overall weight down, carbon fibre is great for reducing vibrations from road buzz as well as having a bit of forgiving flex, letting you speed down those fire roads and gravel cycle paths in the saddle for longer.

Tranz-X Dropper Post

The Tranz-X dropper with 80mm of drop allows the rider to not have compromise between efficient saddle height and comfort and control when riding off-road. Equipped with a remote control lever fitted under the left shifter, it enables you to have full control when you decide to go down that steep trail, then raise the saddle for the climbs with a flick of the remote.

Warranty

Cairn Cycles warranty is only valid if it is purchased through Cairn Cycles or an authorised dealer. The warranty is void if your Cairn bicycle was not purchased direct or with an un-authorised dealer, if you are not the original owner, or it has been subject to non-normal use. Non-normal use conditions mean the bike has been subjected to tricks, stunts, skate parks, pump tracks, ramps, bike parks, north shore style, trials riding, commercial or hire activities. All riding should be done within the intended use of the bicycle, see intended uses page for more details. Warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear, abuse, neglect, improper assembly or maintenance as well as crash damage or non-original parts.

Complete Bicycle

All bikes will have a 1-year complete bicycle warranty, as long as the bicycle was purchase from Cairn Cycles direct or an authorised dealer. This will cover any defective materials or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. This will be subject to condition and use within the intended us guidelines.

Frame

All Cairn Cycles frames will be covered for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase by the original owner. Subject to normal and intended use, regular maintenance and inspection by Cairn Cycles.

Fork

All Cairn Cycles forks (for suspension fork warranty please see the manufactures website or manual) will be covered for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase to the original owner. Subject to normal and intended use, regular maintenance and inspection by Cairn Cycles.

Wheels

All Hunt Bike Wheels are provided with a 3-year warranty against material or workmanship defects. The warranty period runs from the purchase date. For more information visit our help pages

The individual components of your bicycle will have a warranty period as well, which is specific to the manufacture or the component. These will be either outlined in the provided manuals at point of purchase or the details can be found on the manufacturers
